There are Many Voluntary Organizations in the world, which care for the future of the coming generation without detriment to the rights of the existing ones. As such, they endeavor to achieve optimal implementation of the principles of sustainable development through capacity building infrastructural development such as construction of water and electricity networks and building schools, hospitals and mosques.
The term sustainable development is a newly introduced term which is frequently used by the media the press in publications and in social and economic studies Authentication of this term is confronted by a strong resistance. However one could say that it is part of the borrowed Arabic language. in the modern age, it has been acknowledged , by the Academy of Arabic language (based in ,Cairo Egypt ). The term my be defined in the following manner (Sustainable development is economic and social development, which provides the needs of present generations without detriment to the abilities of future generations in getting their needs).
Sudanese have defined voluntary work as a community spirit , which had prevailed since memorial times and continued to prevail, because it is deeply and inwardly implanted through inherited traditions and religious precept into that community.
Organizations working in the field of voluntary work have more than one name. Among these names are: non-governmental organizations, private sector, autonomous sector charitable sector and non-profit sector. This means that workers in the sector of voluntary work need to unify the terms, so that the significance of terms could be clearer and broader.
The ministry of humanitarian Affairs, represented by humanitarian aid Commission, is currently embarked on drafting Voluntary work act, so that it may be issued during the year 2005. In response to the aspirations of Voluntary organizations, the new act is expected to be more comprehensive and will, thus, pave the way for the regulations that should allow for the progress of voluntary work in Sudan.
While the majority of voluntary organizations concentrate their work on fields of women children and orphans, they are almost absent in other important and vital areas like fighting mendacity, homelessness, mines and care for inmates before and after release. in the coming stage we should focus on the quality of organizations and work towards Sudan. Organizations, which are interested to work in areas of mines, homelessness mendacity and fighting adverse phenomena in the Sudanese community, should encouraged through facilitation of registration and reduction of fees.
Successful management remains a major problem for voluntary organizations, because scientific management is not yet well introduced into Arab organizations, compared to foreign organizations, which have made a great progress in this activity.
The most successful, executives director is the one who combines knowledge of Islamic sharia, together with knowledge of modern management science, because work in voluntary organizations requires a great deal of prudence, tactfulness and knowledge of the fundamental principles of chartipul work.
Coordination is considered the core of management of voluntary organizations and the framework, which should be adopted in partnerships among organization for implementation of the policy of sustainable and integral human development.
Partner in the field of voluntary and humanitarian work are required to completely abstain from division and dispute, as it is the only safe way towards establishing and building an encouraging work relation, which should lead to the good of the effected persons and the beneficiaries targeted by the vital services provided by this sector.
There is considerable number of organization (more than fifty) working in the field of care for orphans, but they are unable to cover more than 10% of the total number of orphans, which is estimated at nearly 3,000,000 orphans. With a small additional effort, more numbers could be sponsored by the Sudanese community, which is already prepared to do so.
This problem of displacement in Sudan is an old, a new and renewable one. Therefore, it is indispensable to urge voluntary organization and Sudanese community to provide aid and assistance to displaced persons. Moreover, donor countries and international organization should be appealed to, assist the Sudan in the situation it is facing.
